According to 2014 MLA guildelines, Notes pages are supposed to be before the Works Cited page, double-spaced, and in 12 point Times New Roman font. This formatting is different from Word automatic formatting, and it can be rather tricky to figure out how to change it. Hopefully, this site will help make that process a little easier.
1) Write the paper
Write the paper, using the style format the Word uses for endnotes. It is easier to change once everything is finished. It is als easier to see if the changes worked if you already have a paper, notes, and a works cited. Make sure that your works cited is on a new page. There should be a page break between the conclusion and the works cited page. It should look like the image below.

2) Format Endnotes
Put your cursor in the endnotes. Right click and go to "style." This box should appear. Make sure that you are using "Endnotes" (not footnotes) and change the location to "End of section" rather than end of document. This step is essential. While there, next make sure that you are using an arabic number format. Your numbers should be 1, 2, 3 as opposed to roman numerals. Finally, select "Apply" in order to immediately apply those changes to your notes.

3) Insert Section Break
Put your cursor after the period at the end of your conclusion. Next, go up to the toolbar and select "Page Layout." Next, select the down arrow next to "Breaks" and then select "Continuous" under the category "Section breaks." This should move your notes to beneath your conclusion rather than after your citations.
4) Insert Page Break
Now you need to get the notes on their own page. This step is similar to the previous step. Place your cursor after the period at the end of your conclusion. Next, go up to the toolbar and select "Page Layout." Next, select the down arrow next to "Breaks" and then select "Page" at the very top of the list. This should move your notes to their own page, but still after your conclusion and before the works cited.

5) Title and Format Notes
You are almost finished. Now you need to format the notes so that they are double-spaced, 12 point font. Highlight the notes, then edit the font to 12 point and the spacing to double-spaced. Additionally, you should place your cursor at the before the notes (before the line) and type "Notes". Center this word on the page as pictured below.

You're finished!
Now the Notes page should be before the Works Cited. The Notes page should be titled, and the notes should be in 12 point font and double-spaced. You are now in accordance with MLA guidelines.
